Thefirst 5 seasons were ridiculously good. GoT was part of TV shows being better than movies. Season 8 destroyed all that credibility to the point that most original fans will not even bother restarting the series. Hype doesn't have to ruin a TV series' ending. Breaking Bad and The Wire are great examples of this.
